Junior Legendary Athletics Team will represent the US in the International Cheer Union Junior World Championships

Bartlett, Tenn., February 16, 2018 – USA Cheer, the national governing body for cheer in the US, has announced that the Junior Legendary Athletics from Longwood, Florida, will represent the US in the Junior Team Cheer Hip Hop division at the International Cheer Union (ICU) Junior World Championships, which will take place April 25, 2018 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida.

The ICU is the international governing body for cheer, and has members from 110 Member Nations. Their World Championships host athletes from around the globe. Last year’s ICU World Championships included National Teams from 70 countries and added Junior divisions for athletes aged 12-16.

Legendary Athletics, coached by Dana Evancoe, Ray and Joan Gnat, has won three World Championships with USASF and 10 Summit titles. Last year they were the first Junior Team Cheer Hip Hop team from the US to compete at ICU and took home the Gold medal.

“Legendary Athletics is one amazing program, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to work with them again,” says Stacy Shelton, Director of Performance Cheer for the US National teams. “These kids are so hungry, and I know they want to set the bar even higher this year. Working with Dana and her assistant coaches, I know we will create something that will make a big impression on the Junior global stage.”

“Legendary Athletics is honored to have this incredible opportunity again. To be named the Junior Team Cheer Hip Hop team for the US National Team for the second year in a row is a dream come true,” says Dana Evancoe, Head Coach of Junior Legendary Athletics. “This year, we will have put together our strongest team yet. We have been training for moments like this, and are ready to step up and be better than ever. We are so proud to wear red, white and blue again, and will wear these colors with immense pride!”
