Athletes from Dance Mania All Stars area will comprise the US National Junior Team Cheer
Freestyle Pom
Team

Sacramento, Calif., January 9, 2020  – USA Cheer has announced the coaching staff and region that will represent the United States in the Junior Team Cheer Freestyle Pom division at the 2020 International Cheer Union (ICU) World Cheerleading Championships, which takes place April 27 – 29, 2020 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at the Walt Disney World® Resorts.

The Dance Mania All Stars of Melbourne, Florida, have been chosen to compete in the Junior Team Cheer Freestyle Pom division once again. Dana Parsons, the owner, creative director and head instructor of Dance Mania, will be the head coach, with assistance from Andrea Chapman and Daney Soto.  With an extensive background in choreography, Parsons’ program has earned more than 500 championship titles, including from bid events like The Summit and the USASF Dance Worlds, as well as an undefeated 2017 competitive season.  Parsons served as Head Coach of the inaugural 2019 US National Junior Team Cheer Freestyle Pom team, which took home the silver medal last year.

“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to work with Dance Mania again as they pursue a gold medal. These girls and coaches worked extremely hard a year ago and their efforts were rewarded with the silver,” says Stacy Shelton, Director of Dance for USA Cheer. “We had many outstanding applicants this year, which makes me excited about the future of USA Cheer, but what set Dance Mania apart this year was their fast-paced pom routine, strength of movement, and difficulty of skill level. After last year’s second place finish, I know Dance Mania is eager and hungry to get back on the podium in 2020. I’m looking forward to working with Dance Mania again and we are excited about what these dancers can accomplish on the international stage.”

“Having the opportunity to represent the United States, USA Cheer, and the Junior Team Cheer Freestyle Pom division at the ICU championships was one of the best experiences our program has had to date.  We are blessed, honored, and humbled to be chosen again and are so eager to push ourselves further than ever,” says Parsons. “The entire experience is truly surreal and one that we will take very seriously and cherish forever. Our athletes are stronger, more determined, and even more motivated than last season. We are ready for our comeback and truly appreciate everyone’s support in helping us achieve our goals!”

The US National Junior Team Cheer Freestyle Pom Team will be comprised of athletes from the Brevard County School District area, which may include the following schools and club programs as well as others:

Dance Mania Homeschool Academy

Holy Trinity Episcopal School

Ascension Catholic School

Rockledge High School

Viera Charter School
