USA Cheer STUNT Membership Benefits

Individual USA Cheer STUNT memberships are available for coaches and athletes. This membership comes with specific benefits which includes excess accident medical & catastrophic accident insurance while participating in USA Cheer sanctioned events, member-only newsletters, and special rates on USA Cheer merchandise and certain online courses. Because different programs may cover their participants differently, it is important to read, understand, and discuss with your administrators which memberships may be needed to properly cover your team participants.

Important Insurance Information for STUNT Teams, Coaches, and Athletes

What types of insurance do we need to play STUNT? There are several types of insurance that may be beneficial or required of you, your team, or your school when participating in STUNT. Note that “STUNT Team Membership” does not come with any liability, accident, or catastrophic insurance.

Teams, coaches, and athletes who are under an athletic department may already have access to these policies from their school or state athletics association. Teams, coaches, and athletes who are operating as a “club sport” may not automatically have access to policies from their institution. It is important to check with your athletic department or administration to determine what insurance policies exist for you and what additional policies you may need.

Participant Accident Medical Coverage (Excess to any other valid and collectible insurance available to insured person.) This coverage is used for medical expenses related to “minor” injuries that are not life-changing. There is usually a deductible amount that must be covered by another source, and a specific coverage limit, basically to cover minor medical expenses consistent with the type of expenses that might be incurred from a minor injury.

Catastrophic Accident Coverage – This coverage begins when medical bills reach a higher dollar amount, usually beginning where the excess accident medical coverage limit ends. Therefore a specific injury does not have to be a life altering or life threatening injury to be covered under this policy, though it is intended to help provide medical care for the most serious types of injury that may occur. Excess Accident Medical and Catastrophic Accident Coverage are often bundled together to match up dollar amounts.

The individual participant insurance that comes with membership provides excess accident medical and catastrophic accident coverage to an individual athlete or coach.
